Job description

Role overview

This role sits within the City of Wagga Wagga and is designed for someone who enjoys bringing structure, coordination and calm to a busy environment. You will provide the administrative support that keeps the Careerships Program, Learning & Organisational Development activities, and recruitment operations running smoothly. The position suits a proactive, well-organised person who takes pride in accurate records, efficient processes and helpful service behind the scenes.

You will be part of a high-performing team that values the people who support the work from the background and recognises the impact of strong administrative support on the employee experience.

Employment package

  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • Pay is $2,905.46 gross per fortnight, with progression possible up to $3,486.55 gross per fortnight, plus superannuation at 12%.
  • Access to Council’s Flexible Working Hours Agreement.
  • Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the employee experience.

Key duties

  • Handle administrative tasks connected to the Careerships Program, including recruitment support, onboarding and inductions.
  • Support the coordination of Council’s Work Experience and Volunteer Programs.
  • Oversee bookings and daily operations for Council’s training and meeting rooms.
  • Assist with learning and development sessions, workshops and organisational events.
  • Help deliver careers expos, school engagement activities and workforce attraction initiatives.
  • Draft correspondence, keep records and systems current, arrange meetings, and provide reliable administrative assistance across the People & Culture Division.
  • Support administration for Council’s Individual Performance and Development Process (IPDP).
  • Contribute to process improvement by developing and maintaining administrative systems, procedures and documentation.

What you need to bring

  • Previous experience delivering high-quality administrative support in a busy office setting.
  • Strong planning and prioritising skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, along with a strong customer service approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to keep records and documents accurate.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other business systems.
  • Ability to work well with others while also handling tasks independently.
  • Relevant study in Business Administration, Human Resources or a similar field will be looked upon favourably.
  • A current Class C Driver Licence.

Selection focus questions

  • Describe a situation where you delivered strong administrative support in a busy workplace. How did you juggle priorities while staying accurate and on time?
  • Share an example of communicating complex or sensitive information to different stakeholders. How did you adapt your message?
  • Tell us about a time you improved an administrative process or workplace procedure.
  • What appeals to you about working in People & Culture, and how do your skills and background prepare you to support these programs?
