Job description
Role Overview
La Vie Hotels & Resorts is seeking a People & Culture Manager to lead people strategy across its hotel portfolio. This position is ideal for a leader who enjoys developing strong managers, lifting team performance, and helping guide the growth of a fast-expanding hotel business in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
The role has both strategic and hands-on elements. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will work closely with hotel leaders as a trusted partner on leadership, workplace culture, employee relations, and broader people priorities.
It is an opportunity to directly influence culture, leadership quality, and business performance across a growing portfolio of hotels.
Key Duties
- Collaborate with hotel leaders to shape and roll out people initiatives that improve engagement, strengthen performance, and support operational goals.
- Handle complex employee relations issues such as investigations, performance management, disciplinary matters, and workplace disputes, while balancing business needs with compliance requirements.
- Support and coach leaders so they grow in confidence when managing people, having performance conversations, developing teams, and building strong leadership capability.
- Contribute to hotel openings, acquisitions, workforce planning, restructures, and wider transformation projects as the business expands.
- Assist with portfolio recruitment, succession planning, and the development of future leadership talent across hotels.
- Drive learning and development activities, including onboarding, leadership programs, and adoption of HR and learning systems.
- Help foster a positive workplace through recognition programs, employee engagement initiatives, and portfolio-wide action plans.
- Advise on employment law matters, including compliance with the Fair Work Act, relevant awards, company policies, and best practice across multiple properties.
- Interpret people data and workforce insights to identify trends, improve performance, and support informed decision-making by hotel leaders.
- Work across Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams to support company-wide People & Culture initiatives and contribute to broader business outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- A people-focused professional who prefers partnering with leaders and being present in the business rather than working in isolation.
- Someone who enjoys resolving complex workplace matters and turning challenges into practical solutions.
- Comfort travelling between hotel locations as needed.
- A pragmatic, commercially aware approach to people and culture work.
- A leadership style that builds capability and develops teams rather than relying only on policy enforcement.
- At least 5 years of experience in a People & Culture leadership position.
- Experience across multiple sites or hotel operations is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of the Fair Work Act, HIGA, and Australian employment legislation.
- Confidence managing employee relations matters and organisational change.
Why Join
This role offers a rare chance to shape people strategy within one of the fastest-growing hotel management companies in the Asia-Pacific. You will work across a diverse portfolio that includes luxury island resorts, internationally branded hotels, new openings, and acquisitions.
It is a meaningful opportunity to influence culture, strengthen capability, and support leadership development alongside hospitality professionals who are passionate about what they do.
Additional Information
This is a portfolio-based people leadership role with travel between hotels expected. The position is focused on both strategic influence and operational support within a growing hospitality environment.
