Role overview
This opening is shared on behalf of a partner employer, which will handle applications and all later hiring steps. The hiring company is seeking a People Business Partner, G&A for Canada.
This is a strategic, high-visibility people leadership role supporting General & Administrative teams in a fast-growing, remote-first technology environment.
You will serve as a dependable advisor to senior leaders in Finance, Business Operations, Legal, Talent, and Marketing, helping them build and scale effective teams.
The position combines organizational design, workforce strategy, performance enablement, and change leadership in a rapidly expanding business.
You will connect business goals with people strategy so that teams are structured for durable performance and growth.
A strong data mindset is essential, as you will use people analytics to shape leadership decisions and drive organizational improvements.
The role calls for a hands-on, proactive partner who can work through ambiguity and influence stakeholders at every level.
You will also help strengthen culture, engagement, and leadership effectiveness across distributed teams.
Key accountabilities
- Work closely with G&A leaders to develop and implement people strategies that support business priorities, improve organizational effectiveness, enable scale, and sustain high performance.
- Own organizational design and workforce planning activities, including headcount forecasting, team structure decisions, and support for long-term growth plans.
- Lead talent management work across hiring, development, retention, succession planning, and leadership growth in partnership with Talent and business leadership.
- Coach managers on performance management, encouraging accountability, consistent feedback, and strong talent standards.
- Drive culture and engagement programs that reinforce company values and build stronger connections across remote teams.
- Support leaders through change management during transformation, helping ensure clarity, alignment, and effective communication.
- Use people data and HR analytics to uncover insights, spot trends, and guide strategic decisions across the company.
- Make sure people practices align with U.S. and Canadian employment requirements while supporting a global workforce model.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in People Operations or HR Business Partner positions, preferably supporting G&A or corporate functions in a high-growth startup setting.
- Strong ability to partner with business leaders and influence outcomes, including advising senior stakeholders in uncertain and fast-changing situations.
- Deep knowledge of organizational development, covering talent strategy, performance management, employee engagement, and workforce planning.
- Good understanding of employment law and people-operations best practices in both the United States and Canada.
- Background in fast-moving, scaling organizations with the adaptability and resilience to operate effectively in changing environments.
- Comfort using HR systems and tools such as HRIS platforms like Rippling and performance tools like Lattice, along with data for decision-making.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust across the organization.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and a proactive, execution-focused approach.
Benefits
- Competitive base compensation in the range of $155,000 to $175,000 USD/CAD, plus pre-IPO equity opportunities.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Unlimited and flexible paid time off to support work-life balance.
- Remote-first setup with the flexibility to work from either the United States or Canada.
- A chance to make a meaningful impact in a fast-scaling, high-growth organization.
- Access to a collaborative, mission-driven culture with strong exposure to leadership.
- Extra perks intended to support employee wellbeing and engagement.
