Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor, Certified

This specific position is open exclusively to current employees within the DPSCS Office of Programs, Treatment Reentry Services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the peer recovery team providing support to clients diagnosed with substance abuse, mental health, or co-occurring disorders.
• Complete reporting responsibilities including monthly, quarterly, and annual documentation for the Peer Recovery Program.
• Analyze statistical data to identify trends and outcomes from recovery support initiatives.
• Collaborate with staff to design, implement, and adjust recovery program services.
• Oversee all recovery support programs ensuring quality and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Experience: A minimum of two years providing peer recovery support services.
• Military service as a non-commissioned officer in peer specialist roles may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB).
• Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license if assigned duties require vehicle operation.

Special Requirements

• Candidates must have at least two years in recovery from substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorders to qualify for hire as Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
• Certification must be obtained within 24 months of continuous employment; failure results in disciplinary actions.
• Completion of additional necessary training to maintain certifications is mandatory.
• Employees are subject to drug testing under Maryland regulatory codes.
