Job description

Role Overview

IRIS Software Group supports organisations in their day-to-day operations by ensuring payroll is handled accurately and paid on time. This position is part of the Paycheck Plus team within Managed Payroll Services, where the business takes full ownership of payroll delivery for its clients. It is a client-facing payroll role, not an internal payroll position, and the work has direct impact every month.

Why This Role Is Important

Payroll becomes invisible when everything runs correctly, but it is business-critical when problems arise. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payrolls for several clients and making sure they are accurate, timely, and compliant. Your work helps employees receive correct pay, strengthens client confidence, and supports long-term relationships.

About the Team

You will join the Paycheck Plus payroll bureau team within Managed Payroll Services. The group includes about 10 experienced Client Payroll Executives and senior team members. Each person manages their own client payrolls, with support available when needed. The team culture is built around accuracy, ownership, and mutual support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run end-to-end Irish payrolls for multiple clients.
  • Prepare and process monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines.
  • Manage calculations, statutory and other deductions, employee benefits, and payroll reporting.
  • Work in line with Irish employment/payroll legislation, GDPR, and internal company standards.
  • Serve as the main contact for payroll questions from clients and their employees.
  • Develop trusted working relationships with client contacts.
  • Look for opportunities to streamline work, improve efficiency, and increase automation.
  • Contribute to wider initiatives such as system enhancements and testing.

Requirements

  • IPASS qualification, or active progress toward it.
  • Proven experience handling Irish payroll from start to finish.
  • Background in managing payrolls for multiple clients in a bureau or outsourced setup.
  • Working knowledge of Sage Micropay, payroll journals, CSO returns, and benefits processing.
  • Comfortable using Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines independently.
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to support teammates.

What You’ll Gain

  • Ownership of your own client portfolio.
  • A structured payroll environment with clear expectations and standards.
  • Exposure to a broad mix of clients and payroll scenarios.
  • Support from a team that understands the pressures of payroll work.
  • Opportunities to help improve processes and ways of working.
  • Long-term stability and growth in a global software and services organisation.

Application Process

The hiring process is designed to be fair and transparent. It begins with an online application where you submit your CV and a few basic details. This is followed by an initial interview with the talent team along with two assessments: a 15-minute timed CCAT test and an untimed EPP personality questionnaire. The final stage is a competency and technical interview on MS Teams with the Client Payroll Team Leaders.

Additional Information

This role is based in Drogheda, Ireland and is an onsite position. Applicants should already be experienced in Irish payroll, comfortable managing multiple clients, and motivated by accurate, compliant delivery. The work requires strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively with team support when required.
