Role Summary
The company is hiring a Payroll Specialist to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time for employees across multiple states. The position suits someone who is detail-focused and looking to deepen their expertise in payroll operations and compliance.
In this role, you will handle key payroll tasks using established processes, help maintain data accuracy, support audit readiness, and work with teams across the business. The position involves moderate supervision and includes resolving routine payroll issues while continuing to strengthen knowledge of payroll systems, procedures, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Run payroll transactions such as regular earnings, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions according to set schedules and procedures.
- Check payroll information for accuracy and correct mismatches using standard methods.
- Keep employee payroll records up to date and maintain strong data quality across systems.
- Help ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll rules by following approved policies and guidance.
- Work with HR, Finance, and IT to support payroll workflows and keep data aligned.
- Handle employee payroll questions promptly and professionally.
- Support payroll audits, reporting activities, and documentation requests.
- Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including W-2 preparation, with supervision.
- Look for ways to improve processes by spotting inefficiencies and suggesting practical enhancements within the assigned scope.
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of experience in payroll or a closely related area such as accounting, HR operations, or finance.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Workday, or comparable systems.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and data checking/validation.
- Basic understanding of payroll workflows and core compliance requirements.
- Exposure to multistate payroll concepts is preferred, though not mandatory.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Ability to solve routine issues by following established procedures.
- Good communication skills for supporting employees and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong discretion when handling confidential employee information.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $70,000 to $84,000 per year. The role is also eligible for an annual performance-based company bonus. Final compensation depends on factors such as job-related skills, education, relevant experience, and future growth potential.
