Role overview
A well-established organisation is looking for a Payroll Administrator to join a welcoming and supportive team in Leeds. This is a great fit for someone who is highly organised, methodical, and comfortable working in a busy environment where accuracy and efficiency matter.
The role is centered on keeping payroll operations running smoothly and helping employees across the wider business. You will be involved in the preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payrolls, maintaining accurate employee records, and handling updates for starters, leavers, and contractual changes. The position also requires ensuring payroll activity follows current HMRC rules and legislation.
Key duties
- Support the preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
- Keep employee payroll information complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Process new joiners, leavers, and changes to employee terms and conditions.
- Apply tax code updates and statutory deduction changes correctly.
- Assist with pension administration and auto-enrolment tasks.
- Handle statutory payment processing as required.
- Support payroll reconciliation work to help maintain accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Finance to ensure payroll data is consistent and reliable.
Requirements
- Previous experience in payroll administration.
- Solid understanding of UK payroll rules and HMRC compliance requirements.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Confidence using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Sage 50 Payroll or comparable software would be an advantage.
- Exposure to time and attendance systems would also be beneficial.
