Overview
Geosyntec Consultants is looking for a Payroll Officer to join its corporate payroll function. The role is based in Brisbane, Australia, with Sydney considered as an alternative location. Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, this position will begin on-site and then move to a hybrid arrangement after the initial training period.

Responsibilities
- Handle monthly international payroll runs, including preparing payroll payments and producing standard reports.
- Support the Payroll Manager with year-end review work related to payroll processes.
- Answer employee queries regarding payroll matters, including leave and paid time off.
- Compile journal entry files for payrolls and associated PTO reporting.
- Carry out periodic checks related to Super Cap.
- Deal with more complex payroll-related questions as they arise.
- Assist with payroll tax corrections, adjustments, and amendments.
- Process payroll across multiple countries.
- Help train other members of the team.
- Support quarterly general ledger reconciliation for payroll.
- Assist with payroll tax withholding setup and workers’ compensation calculations for new states and countries.
- Help establish payroll for newly acquired businesses.
- Perform other duties related to the role as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, plus at least 5 years of payroll experience, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience that equips the candidate for the role.
- Working knowledge of payroll systems and intermediate-level Microsoft Word and Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
- Ability to understand detailed instructions, short correspondence, and internal memos.
- Capability to draft simple correspondence and memos.
- Comfortable presenting information clearly in one-to-one and small-group settings for internal stakeholders.
- Able to perform calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- This role requires a satisfactory background check because it involves access to confidential information, in line with company and client policy and applicable laws.

This is a full-time onsite role with a hybrid work arrangement available after training. The role may be based in Brisbane, Australia, preferably, or Sydney, Australia. The salary and vacancy count are not specified.
