Role Overview
This 12-month payroll contract sits within a major national transport and logistics business that manages a substantial workforce. The environment is busy, cooperative, and suited to someone who is comfortable handling complex payroll activity at scale while maintaining strong accuracy and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Run weekly and monthly payroll cycles from start to finish for a large employee population.
- Keep employee payroll records current, including new starter details, exits, and contract updates.
- Work through detailed payroll calculations such as overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Support compliance with PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, workers compensation, and long service leave rules.
- Process termination payments carefully and ensure final entitlements are calculated correctly.
- Respond to payroll questions from employees and provide prompt, helpful customer support.
- Partner with HR and Finance to maintain accurate reporting, reconciliations, and clean data.
Candidate Profile
- Background as a Payroll Officer in a mid-sized to large business.
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll law, taxation, and compliance obligations.
- Hands-on experience managing end-to-end payroll in complex settings.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to stay effective under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for payroll variances and queries.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels.
- A practical, collaborative mindset with the flexibility to work independently and as part of a team.
