Job description
Role Overview
This opportunity is posted on behalf of a partner employer, which will handle every application and follow-up step. The partner company is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator located in the United States.
In this position, you will ensure employees are paid correctly and punctually while keeping payroll, benefits, and contractor records accurate across several systems. You will manage payroll operations from start to finish, covering both hourly and salaried payroll cycles while staying aligned with federal, state, and local compliance requirements. The role also includes benefits administration, coordination with external vendors, and maintaining reliable data across HR platforms.
You will act as a primary resource for employees and managers, helping with payroll questions, deductions, benefits enrollment, and related support.
The job also covers contractor lifecycle administration and cross-border payment processing, with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance within HRIS tools.
This role combines hands-on operations with analytical troubleshooting and provides exposure to payroll software, benefits systems, and process improvement work. It is a detail-heavy, collaborative position that requires discretion, strong communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-moving remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full-cycle U.S. payroll for hourly and salaried employees, making sure processing is accurate, on schedule, and compliant with company policies and all relevant regulations.
- Administer payroll deductions, garnishments, tax levies, employment verification requests, and assist with audits, reconciliations, and year-end payroll activities.
- Manage contractor records, including HRIS updates, status changes, renewals, terminations, and payments through external platforms.
- Support payroll and contractor systems as a platform administrator, maintaining data quality, reporting accuracy, and opportunities to streamline processes.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including enrollment support, open enrollment setup, vendor file transfers, and issue resolution.
- Handle compliance-related tasks such as ACA reporting, unemployment claims, leave tracking, and maintaining required regulatory records.
- Produce payroll, benefits, and HR reports, and look for ways to improve workflows and increase automation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration within a multi-state environment.
- Practical experience running payroll in ADP Workforce Now, including hourly payroll cycles.
- Solid knowledge of payroll tax rules, ACA obligations, garnishments, and benefits compliance.
- Background supporting employee benefits programs and coordinating with outside vendors and insurance carriers.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to review, analyze, and reconcile complex data.
- Strong organization and time-management abilities with careful attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to assist employees and work effectively with HR, Finance, and Operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related area, or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to HRIS platforms and familiarity with tools such as Deel or international payroll systems is an advantage.
Benefits
- Competitive annual compensation benchmarked to payroll and benefits market rates; the exact salary range was not provided.
- Remote-first working arrangement with flexibility and support for work-life balance.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with significant employer support.
- Paid time off that includes vacation, holidays, sick leave, and parental leave support.
- Retirement savings plan that includes employer contributions.
- Coverage options for life, disability, and supplemental insurance.
- Access to employee assistance programs and wellness resources.
- Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and experience with global HR systems and processes.
- A flexible, collaborative culture centered on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
