Position Summary
We are seeking motivated candidates for the role of Payment Disputes and Risk Officer-I specializing in Australian card disputes and chargeback management based in Bengaluru. The incumbent will manage payment disputes, chargebacks, merchant risk, and fraud while ensuring adherence to card schemes and Australian financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage chargeback and direct debit claims adhering to card scheme rules and company policies.
- Address queries related to disputes from merchants, banking partners, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct detailed investigations into transaction disputes, fraud alerts, and suspicious activities.
- Monitor merchant transactions and escalate risks proactively.
- Support thorough risk investigations and merchant reviews periodically.
- Ensure prompt responses to payment schemes to maximize recoveries and reduce losses.
- Evaluate merchant behavior for risk compliance and acceptability.
- Collaborate internally and externally on dispute and fraud resolution efforts.
- Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of payment dispute resolution, chargeback handling, fraud prevention, and risk management processes.
- Excellent analytical talents with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret transaction data to detect unusual patterns.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Understanding of payment industry regulations and dispute handling protocols.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and delivering excellent customer service.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a relevant discipline.
Preferred Experience and Certifications
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in payment disputes, chargebacks, fraud prevention, or risk operations.
- Exposure to Payments, FinTech, Banking, Merchant Acquiring, or E-commerce sectors is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications in Fraud Prevention, Risk Management, Compliance, or Payments are a plus.

- Accurate and timely processing of chargebacks and claims.
- Achievement of targets related to dispute resolution and recovery.
- Effective detection and escalation of frauds or suspicious transactions.
