Overview

Serco is currently seeking a compassionate and customer-oriented Patient Transport Officer to join the External Transport Services team at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, Western Australia. This is a full-time position offering a 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts, promoting an excellent work-life balance. The hourly wage is $32.27 plus superannuation. Some weekend shifts are required, with penalty rates of 1.5x on Saturdays and 1.75x on Sundays.

Fiona Stanley Hospital is a prominent 783-bed tertiary care facility in the south metropolitan area providing extensive healthcare services for adults, youth, and children.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, safe, and empathetic transportation for patients and carers within the hospital premises.
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are thoroughly inspected and maintained for readiness.
  • Assist patients safely when boarding and disembarking transport vehicles.
  • Accurately record and communicate handover details to relevant personnel.
  • Adhere to strict infection control and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Operate vehicles safely while preserving patient comfort throughout the journey.

Candidate Requirements

  • Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient Transport, Certificate IV in Healthcare, Ambulance, or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Western Australia Class C driver’s license.
  • Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) authorization or willingness to acquire it.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or readiness to obtain these credentials.
  • Working with Children Check or willingness to secure it.
  • Up-to-date immunizations including COVID-19, MMR, Pertussis, and Varicella vaccinations.
  • Prior experience in a related patient transport or customer care role, or transferable skills from relevant service fields.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, demonstrating inclusivity and respect.
