Role overview
This is a remote patient support role for a partner healthcare organization in the United States. The hiring company handles the application process and all follow-up steps. In this position, you will be a central contact for patients, care teams, and insurance-related workflows, with a strong emphasis on billing assistance and financial communication. Key duties
- Act as the main contact for patients with questions about bills, insurance coverage, and payment matters.
- Handle patient registration and intake tasks, and keep EMR/EHR records current, accurate, and confidential.
- Work with clinical and insurance teams to confirm benefits, coverage, and patient financial responsibility before visits.
- Track and resolve support tickets or patient cases through tools such as Zendesk, while maintaining prompt and professional communication.
- Help patients understand invoices, payment choices, and other healthcare-related financial processes.
- Take part in audits and reviews to spot billing issues, patterns, and ways to improve processes.
- Support cross-team efforts that enhance patient service and streamline billing operations.
- Follow healthcare compliance rules and safeguard PHI and other sensitive patient information.
Experience and skill requirements
- Several years of experience in customer service or patient support, ideally in a patient-facing setting.
- Prior healthcare billing exposure is preferred, especially in a related medical environment.
- At least 2 years of practical experience using Zendesk.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, with Athena preferred, plus experience managing patient records.
- Comfort using Google Workspace for documentation, coordination, and daily communication.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills, paired with a calm, empathetic, and professional style.
- Ability to work independently from a remote setup with dependable internet access and a quiet workspace.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday during CST business hours.
