Flourish Research is a clinical research organization focused on helping trials succeed across cardiology, metabolic disorders, renal, oncology, CNS, pulmonology, and vaccine studies. This opening is for a Patient Recruitment Specialist to support the Charlotte, NC site. The position is onsite and classified as non-exempt.
Work schedule and pay
The role follows a Monday to Friday day-shift schedule with 40 hours per week. Compensation is $24 to $27 per hour, depending on experience.
What you will do
- Understand protocol-based visit schedules and procedures, and communicate them clearly to prospective participants.
- Handle a high volume of outbound and inbound calls while working from a workstation for long periods.
- Recruit qualified participants for assigned studies while staying aligned with enrollment timelines and ethics requirements.
- Contact, screen, and follow up with potential participants so responses are timely and well documented.
- Work as part of the recruitment team to help meet departmental targets across all assigned studies.
- When assigned as lead recruiter, participate in planning meetings, trainings, protocol reviews, and campaign reporting.
- Conduct phone prescreens using study-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Record medical history and demographic details in a computerized database.
- Follow up on no-shows and update CTMS records promptly with complete comments.
- Place reminder calls for scheduled prescreens and screening visits.
- Stay informed about upcoming studies and share ideas for pre-screening when appropriate.
- Support walk-in screenings, open houses, health screenings, expos, and other recruitment events as assigned.
- Protect confidentiality of study information and protected health information.
- Attend required meetings and training to stay current on regulations, study protocols, and company policies.
- Complete study-related work efficiently and safely while following company procedures.
- Represent the organization professionally in all verbal, written, and in-person interactions.
- Take on other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements and working conditions
- Previous experience in clinical or biological research with a focus on patient recruitment is required; 3+ years is specified.
- Knowledge of IRB, FDA, GCP, and HIPAA guidelines is preferred.
- Experience handling outbound and inbound phone calls is required.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are needed.
- Good judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability are important for success in this role.
- The role calls for strong organization, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Professional conduct, a strong work ethic, customer service skills, and telephone etiquette are essential.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is expected.
- The candidate should be adaptable and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
- Ability to meet at least 80% of annual goals is required.
- Work is performed in a clinical/office setting with a call-center style environment that may include distractions and noise.
- Local travel may be required, along with access to and daily availability of a vehicle.
- The job requires extended sitting, extensive computer use, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and occasionally more than 35 pounds.
- Some night and weekend work may occasionally be needed.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
