Job description

Overview

This full-time night shift position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week, providing frontline bedside care in a fast-paced hospital environment. As a Patient Care Technician (also known as Patient Care Assistant or PCA), the role focuses on creating a compassionate and supportive patient experience by anticipating their needs such as assisting with meals, encouraging mobility, aiding with bathing, and ensuring clean linens and gowns are available.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding patient care through thoughtful assistance and attention.
  • Assist nurses by obtaining vital signs and promptly communicating any unusual changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and constant proximity when patients are mobile.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or completed during orientation.
  • Awareness of care appropriate to patient age and developmental status.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical procedures, safety standards, and infection control.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Mental resilience to handle stress and frequent interruptions with focus.
  • Physical ability to perform repeated movements and physically demanding tasks.
  • Capability to organize multiple tasks, pay attention to details, and perform basic math and reading.
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and hygiene to prevent infections for patients and staff.
