Job description

Role overview

This is a varied opportunity within a growing health research team in Greater Manchester. The post is focused on helping people learn about health research and have a genuine say in it. The wider Vocal team brings patients, carers, artists, researchers, scientists and other communities together to share lived experience, insight and expertise, using creative and innovative approaches that have won awards and contribute to stronger health research.

Vocal is based in Greater Manchester and works across local, national and international settings. It is connected to the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre: Manchester and the Manchester Clinical Research Facility.

The post plays an important part in helping shape and deliver patient and public involvement and engagement work that supports the Manchester BRC.

What the role involves

  • Helping design, deliver and assess patient and public involvement and engagement projects and events, including contributing to reports and other written outputs.
  • Supporting the participation of patients and members of the public in Vocal activities and project work.
  • Planning and coordinating events, meetings and activities for different patient and public audiences.
  • Working across projects to make sure groups that are often under-represented are included in health research involvement and engagement.
  • Assisting with project planning tasks such as timelines, schedules and general administration.
