Job Responsibilities
The Patient Access Scheduler is responsible for coordinating appointments for a range of patient services including diagnostics, surgeries, therapy sessions, physician consultations, and other treatments. Key duties include collecting and verifying patient demographic and insurance information, registering patients, and accurately logging data into the scheduling system. This role operates in a call center environment and requires meeting established individual quality performance standards while delivering professional, empathetic, and courteous service to patients, families, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Must possess a high school diploma, GED, certification, training, or relevant experience.
- Completion and successful passing of a Patient Access training course is required.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume and fast-paced workplace environment.
- Basic math skills for calculation purposes.
- Attention to detail, organization, teamwork, compassion, excellent customer service, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.
- Preferred: foundational knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, along with accurate typing skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare guidelines, especially concerning medical necessity compliance.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish or Creole are preferred.

The hourly wage ranges from $17.27 to $21.93 based on experience.
