Role Overview

The Partnership and Outreach Lead position aims to enhance engagement and boost referrals to the Ready Steady Quit programme. This role concentrates on forging robust partnerships with community groups and businesses, creating referral pathways, conducting workshops, and empowering referral advocates within organisations. Approximately 30% of the role involves delivering personalised and group smokefree behavioural support to whānau.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture alliances with community organisations, businesses, and groups.
  • Develop and support referral champions within these organisations.
  • Facilitate workshops and educational sessions focused on smokefree initiatives.
  • Drive higher referral rates to the Ready Steady Quit service.
  • Offer one-on-one and group support to individuals and families on their smokefree journey.
  • Advocate for smokefree messaging throughout the community.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, health promotion, or partnership-building.
  • Proactive and comfortable initiating discussions with potential partners.
  • Confident in presenting workshops and leading group sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships.
  • A thorough understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles.
  • Experience working with Māori, Pasifika, and diverse population groups.
  • Skills in motivational interviewing or behaviour change are advantageous.

Applicant Requirements

  • Must be a non-smoker.
  • Possess a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
  • Willingness to travel locally and engage within community environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training as a Stop Smoking Practitioner.
  • Existing community and organisational networks.
  • Background in health, wellbeing, or community development sectors.
  • Experience with smokefree programmes.

This ProCare smokefree support service is dedicated to enhancing health equity across Aotearoa by partnering with whānau and communities to facilitate substantial, sustained behaviour changes. The service appreciates the lived experiences of former smokers and only employs non-smokers due to the nature of the work.
