Job description

Overview

We seek an engaging Math Teacher to instruct students from grades 6 through 12 in a dynamic, online learning environment. Our school prioritizes inquiry-based and student-centered learning, catering to diverse learners including third-culture children, gifted students, and those with neurodivergent needs, while accommodating students passionate about sports, arts, and entrepreneurship. Small class sizes and structured pacing guides minimize preparation burden, letting teachers focus on fostering connections and delivering creative, stimulating lessons.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct live math lessons via Zoom integrated with LMS platforms, primarily during morning hours (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.), along with flexible times for group or one-on-one support.
  • Enhance math lessons using interactive tools (such as Desmos, BussMath, Kahoot, GeoGebra), puzzles, games, and real-world problems that inspire curiosity.
  • Adapt instructional pacing and methods across topics including algebra, geometry, statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus, making lessons fun and student-led.
  • Leverage LMS features like assignments, quizzes, analytics, and discussions to monitor participation and provide timely feedback.
  • Design lesson plans for whole classes, smaller groups, and individual students to strengthen numerical understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experiment with novel digital tools to encourage active learning and gamified math practice.
  • Complete grading promptly and keep students and their families informed of academic progress.
  • Establish encouraging communication to build solid relationships with students and conduct orientation sessions to motivate learners from the outset.
  • Support students with math anxiety by fostering an environment where mistakes are part of learning.
  • Analyze LMS data to identify learners needing extra help or enrichment challenges, providing tailored support and differentiated exercises.
  • Track attendance and engagement, following up on any decline promptly.
  • Maintain accurate digital records of attendance, grades, communications, and interventions within the LMS.
  • Contribute to Personal Learning Plans detailing individual objectives and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to address diverse academic and social needs.
  • Share innovative teaching approaches and actively participate in professional development and team meetings focused on enhancing online math education.
  • Assist occasionally in virtual or in-person family and STEM community events.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required, ideally in Education, Mathematics, or related fields. Candidates currently enrolled in such degree programs may also apply.
  • Experience teaching middle or high school math is essential.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms such as Canvas, Schoology, Google Classroom, or equivalents for lesson delivery and grading.
  • Excellent English proficiency and communication skills to engage international students and families effectively.
  • Comfortable using digital teaching tools including video conferencing and interactive math applications.
  • Ability to make math engaging, relevant, and approachable for students.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability to manage schedules and responsibilities in a part-time remote teaching role.
  • Professionalism, adaptability, and self-motivation to work independently within a distraction-free home environment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection is mandatory.

Benefits

  • Part-time role committing roughly 15–20 hours per week, mainly during mornings for live classes with flexible additional time for planning and grading.
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-time position.
  • Competitive compensation based on qualifications and prior online teaching experience.
  • Full tuition coverage for eligible dependent children enrolled as students.
  • A collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages creativity, humor, and values educators’ input beyond performance metrics.
