Job description

Role overview

San Diego FC is looking for part-time matchday operations staff to help deliver smooth, professional stadium operations on game days and at related events. The role is very hands-on and supports multiple areas, including equipment movement, event setup and teardown, temporary branding, locker room preparation, and fan-facing activations. You will work alongside different departments to keep every operational detail ready for players, staff, and supporters.

What you will do

  • Load and unload equipment trucks and help keep inventory organized.
  • Set up San Diego FC matchday elements across the stadium, including camera platforms, Capo stands, VIP entrances, and holding rooms.
  • Prepare locker rooms with the necessary equipment and materials for players and coaching staff.
  • Install temporary stadium branding, such as signage and promotional materials, before each match.
  • Get player benches and technical areas ready for use.
  • Support matchday activations such as gate giveaways and group experiences.
  • Help assemble and position LED field boards and other visual presentation pieces.
  • Work with teammates to coordinate tasks so matchday operations run efficiently.
  • Partner with other San Diego FC departments to support event planning and execution.
  • Break down equipment, branding, and locker room materials after matches and load them back into trucks.
  • Assist with setup and teardown for fan fest and other event-day activities.

What we are looking for

This role suits someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment. The ideal candidate can shift between tasks smoothly while staying efficient and composed. You should be able to handle physically demanding work, use basic tools, and stay effective during long events in changing weather conditions.

Prior experience in event setup, event conversions, or operations is helpful, but not mandatory. Strong communication and teamwork skills are important, and a forklift certification is considered an advantage.

Schedule and working conditions

Work is scheduled on an as-needed matchday basis, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may run until 12:00am or later. Full event coverage can last 8 to 10 hours, and walking and standing make up about 90% of the job. The role also requires flexibility to work in varying weather conditions.

Equal opportunity statement

San Diego FC is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital status, veteran status, or any other protected class.
