Position Overview
We are seeking part-time Kennel Assistants to contribute to a well-organized team committed to providing quality care and excellent service. This role involves assisting veterinarians and technicians by maintaining cleanliness, feeding, exercising, restraining, and managing pets' daily needs. Animal Care Extraordinaire, located in Stuart, Florida, is a trusted community veterinary provider focusing on personalized, high-quality pet care including grooming and boarding services with opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate care to all animals under supervision.
- Feed pets according to veterinarian or owner instructions, monitoring and documenting food, water intake, and waste output.
- Identify and report any unusual pet conditions or behaviors indicative of distress or illness.
- Assist veterinary professionals during pet restraint procedures.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness daily, including cleaning equipment and facilities using appropriate chemicals, ensuring safe usage.
- Sanitize cages, runs, wards, and related areas on a regular schedule; change litter boxes and food/water containers accordingly.
- Complete weekly and monthly cleaning tasks to uphold hospital appearance and cleanliness standards.
- Prioritize duties effectively to manage workload.
- Handle laundry requirements for the kennel and hospital areas.
- Provide fresh bedding for animals as needed.
- Walk pets following scheduled routines.
- Understand and execute oral and written instructions accurately.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy toward clients and coworkers while managing multiple interruptions.
- Communicate clearly about services and health recommendations to clients.
- Safely manage difficult or aggressive animals to protect self, pets, and coworkers.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old to qualify.
- Minimum six months' experience working as a boarding or kennel assistant is required.
Work Schedule
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
