Position Overview

This part-time role supports an assigned judge by handling specialized clerical and administrative duties essential for smooth court operations within Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily office functions for the assigned judge, including assisting with legal documents, conducting research, calendar management, coordinating juror calls, arranging inmate attendance, and facilitating media accommodations.
  • Schedule and manage weekly court calendars, assign court dates, maintain updated calendars, and communicate changes to involved parties; attend court for arraignments and calendar calls.
  • Handle customer service through multiple channels by providing information on court services, procedures, case statuses, and documentation; accept and review legal documents following court protocols; resolve queries and complaints effectively.
  • Process court documents such as subpoenas, orders, warrants, citations, and deeds; date stamp, distribute, file, and report on these documents accurately; coordinate courtroom personnel scheduling across roles.
  • Serve as communication liaison between the judge, attorneys, staff, litigants, other agencies, and the public while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support court operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in administrative technology.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience providing clerical and administrative support in a legal environment.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks such as lifting light materials (5-10 pounds) and maintaining prolonged periods at a workstation.
  • Strong oral communication skills required.
