Job description
Role overview
This is a part-time contract opportunity for an HR Generalist / People Partner covering parental leave from August 2026 through February 2027. The role is based in the United States and is fully remote. It is a hands-on People Operations position in a fast-paced, people-focused environment, where you will act as the main daily HR contact for employees and managers.
You will support core HR operations, guide people leaders through employee relations situations, and help keep processes accurate, compliant, and well-documented. The position calls for sound judgment, strong organization, and the ability to build trust quickly while balancing empathy with business priorities.
What you will handle
- Act as the go-to contact for day-to-day People Operations questions and HR system updates, making sure requests are handled promptly and accurately.
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, leave administration, and HRIS record accuracy across the company.
- Assist with payroll inputs, benefits coordination, and communication with HR vendors so employee transactions run smoothly.
- Provide initial support to employees and managers on performance discussions, documentation, feedback conversations, and policy interpretation.
- Identify employee issues that need escalation and route complex or sensitive matters to leadership or legal partners when needed.
- Keep compliance records, reporting processes, and HR files organized to support audit readiness and consistent operations.
- Help document processes and contribute to improvements that strengthen People Operations during the coverage period.
Experience and capabilities needed
The ideal candidate has several years of HR or People Operations experience and is comfortable working independently in a lean environment. You should bring practical knowledge of employee lifecycle management, HR administration, payroll and benefits coordination, and manager support on employee relations topics.
Strong judgment, confidentiality, and a calm, service-oriented communication style are essential. Familiarity with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, benefits tools, and basic U.S. employment law will help you succeed in the role.
Compensation and working setup
This contract pays $65 to $85 per hour, depending on experience and market alignment. The schedule is flexible, at approximately 20 to 25 hours per week, and the role is fully remote within the United States.
