Position Summary

The school is looking for experienced teachers who can help advance its mission of developing students who excel academically, contribute to their communities, and pursue their passions with leadership, character, and purpose. The role requires delivering both live and self-paced instruction, offering meaningful grading and feedback, holding office hours, and maintaining clear, timely communication with students, families, and internal staff.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Take ownership of instruction in the assigned subject area using the academy’s learning management system, student information system, curriculum tools, and other supporting technology.
• Work effectively with students who have varied interests, strengths, goals, and support needs.
• Lead both the live weekly seminar sessions and the asynchronous learning portion of the program.
• Design and deliver engaging weekly seminar lessons throughout the academic year.
• Build a classroom environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and actively engaging.
• Promote participation and peer interaction during live classes.
• Ensure that seminar activities and instruction meet the intended learning outcomes.
• Handle instructional and administrative duties assigned by academic leadership.
• Protect academic standards by following the school’s integrity policy and reporting violations to the relevant stakeholders when needed.
• Take part in the annual teacher observation process as required.

Grading, Feedback, and Communication

• Provide accurate, personalized, and high-quality grading and feedback within 5 business days.
• Keep all course gradebooks current inside the learning management system.
• Use the school’s AI-assisted grading tool, BusyBee, to help deliver strong feedback.
• Complete grading, feedback, and communication responsibilities on time during the semester extension period.
• Reply professionally to student and family emails and calls within 24 hours.
• Share important student updates or concerns with advising and academic team members as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with the academic team to support student success.
• Report curriculum issues, needed improvements, and related concerns to the appropriate academic leaders.

Office Hours and Meetings

• Hold four live office-hour sessions each week, lasting 1 hour each, during the academic year.
• Attend monthly faculty or department meetings when required.
• Participate in beginning-of-term faculty orientation sessions each August and January.
• Join any other meetings or orientations requested by school leadership.

Job Requirements, Skills, and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• A master’s degree in teaching, curriculum design, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong subject matter expertise in English is required.
• Active state teaching certification is preferred.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience in a virtual environment is preferred.
• Experience working with highly driven or specialized students is an advantage.
• Ability to deliver creative, interactive, and discussion-based online lessons is essential.
• Comfort and proficiency with student information systems and learning management systems are needed.
• Strong organizational skills are important.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Ability to maintain a cooperative team environment is expected.
• Must work with professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
• Flexibility is necessary.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced setting is required.
