Role Overview

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest in Newbern is seeking a part-time Allied Health Assistant Coordinator to support the Director of Nursing and Allied Health Programs. The position requires availability Monday through Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a Technical Diploma in Practical Nursing is mandatory, with preference for candidates holding an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
  • Current, unrestricted nursing license issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities are essential, along with the capacity to maintain professional and courteous interactions with clinical partners, vendors, students, and faculty.
  • BLS certification is required, along with the capability to obtain certification as a BLS instructor.
  • Organizational and planning skills are important; experience in record keeping is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and comply with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Experience in diverse healthcare environments is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing and Allied Health with reviewing and assessing admission prerequisites for upcoming nursing and allied health cohorts.
  • Support clinical requirement management and placement coordination for students in nursing and allied health programs.
  • Schedule and monitor drug screening processes for nursing and allied health students.
  • Coordinate uniform fittings and procurement for relevant students.
  • Oversee review and submission activities related to clinical contracts, both new and existing.
  • Provide instructional support to allied health faculty during classroom sessions, skills laboratory simulations, and clinical practicums as necessary.
  • Recruit and manage advisory board members for nursing and allied health curricula.
  • Maintain compliance documentation for COE and Board of Nursing standards, alongside student records management.
  • Assist with transcript submissions and monitor post-graduation follow-ups.
  • Proctor examinations linked to nursing and allied health courses.
  • Engage in marketing and recruitment activities for traditional and dual enrollment nursing and allied health classes, including participation in high school outreach, job fairs, and community events.
  • Coordinate campus-specific scheduled activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department needs.

Compensation

Remuneration will correspond to the candidate’s qualifications and experience, following salary guidelines set by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
