Position Overview

Liberty University is seeking part-time online adjunct instructors to join the School of Health Sciences, specializing in Gerontology. This role supports the university's mission of training champions for Christ by integrating a biblically grounded Christian worldview into teaching and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver course material aligned with approved curriculum on a scheduled basis to ensure student engagement and satisfaction.
  • Support students in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes, offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Consistently provide timely and meaningful feedback to learners.
  • Engage in retention efforts by maintaining regular communication, reaching out to absent students, and offering assistance as needed.
  • Advise students on academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
  • Motivate students to actively participate throughout their educational journey.
  • Record and report student grades and attendance in adherence to university regulations.
  • Uphold university standards for course activities, communications, grading, and collaboration with Instructional Mentors and peers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Doctorate (PhD) in Gerontology or Medical Degree (MD) specializing in Geriatrics from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to the evangelical Christian faith consistent with Liberty University's mission, including adherence to its doctrinal positions.
  • Experience with collaborative learning strategies and learner-centered instructional methods.
  • Strong organizational capabilities to complete tasks independently, accurately, and punctually.
  • Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse student abilities.
  • Superior interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving abilities, enabling effective collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Proven aptitude or potential for teaching at the college level.

Employment Details

  • Position Type: Part-time, non-benefited, fully online role.
  • Work Location: Remote.
  • Compensation: Typically paid $800 per course load hour.
