Parking and Local Laws Officer

About the Role

Hobsons Bay City Council is seeking two dedicated Parking and Local Laws Officers to join their Community Safety and Compliance team on a permanent full-time basis. Located at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre in Altona, this role focuses on enforcing parking regulations, ensuring compliance with local laws, and supporting community safety and accessibility.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform regular parking patrols, investigate related offenses, and issue infringements according to applicable road rules and legislation.
• Handle investigations relating to local laws, including matters such as abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping, unsightly premises, and unauthorized roadside trading.
• Promote voluntary compliance by educating residents, businesses, and motorists prior to taking enforcement measures.
• Document evidence meticulously, maintaining accurate case notes, reports, and enforcement records.
• Contribute to community safety and maintain neighborhood amenities through compliance activities, including some support in animal management when required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Certificate IV in Government Investigations, Statutory Compliance, or an equivalent qualification/experience.
• Experience in regulatory compliance, enforcement, investigations, or customer service roles.
• Competence in interpreting and applying legislation, local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills capable of resolving conflicts and fostering positive community relations.
• Proven capacity to work autonomously, handle multiple priorities, and effectively use compliance technology and record-keeping systems.

• This is a Band 5 role with a salary range from $78,154.75 to $90,691.48 annually plus superannuation.
• Pre-employment checks include National Police Record Check, medical assessment, Working With Children Check, and valid Victorian Driver's License.
