Overview

We are seeking a Paralegal II to join our Legal Team in New York, NY. This role involves collaborating closely with in-house counsel to support litigation and employment-related legal work, including managing claims investigations, supporting hearings, and ensuring smooth litigation operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Lyft's Litigation & Employment legal counsel by managing administrative, pre-litigation, and litigation tasks as well as responding to external legal inquiries.
  • Oversee and track claim responses, maintain calendaring, and handle related filing duties.
  • Conduct independent factual investigations for responding to administrative claims, demand letters, and arbitration matters, assisting with drafting legal responses.
  • Prepare summaries and memoranda on factual research, providing recommendations to supervising attorneys.
  • Gather necessary documents and data for discovery and information requests.
  • Complete filings with courts or agencies and attend related hearings or appearances.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to legal operations processes to support Lyft's expanding growth.
  • Coordinate with various internal teams and external contacts to ensure efficient workflow of legal requests.
  • Provide legal assistance to attorneys, paralegals, and internal business partners to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Help establish and govern internal legal procedures and workflows to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Regularly liaise with both internal and external legal counsel and contacts.
  • Lead legal projects and support broader strategic initiatives in collaboration with team members.

Qualifications and Experience

  • While no JD or Paralegal certification is required, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree along with over 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with prior experience in law firms.
  • Proven experience managing discovery in complex litigation cases.
  • Ability to obtain a notary license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong organizational abilities.
  • Adept at thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient in Mac OS, Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Excel, Word, and familiar with e-discovery tools.

Work Environment and Schedule

This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to work onsite three days per week—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays—and have the flexibility to work remotely for up to four weeks annually. Lyft strongly encourages office presence to enhance collaboration and maintain company culture.

Compensation

The salary range for this position in the New York City area is approximately $88,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience, and location. This range excludes potential equity, bonuses, or additional benefits.
