About the Role

Join Queensland Government's QBuild, a longstanding builder with over 160 years of service, supporting communities by constructing and maintaining government properties such as schools, social housing, police stations, correctional facilities, and healthcare establishments. This role involves supporting disaster responses and playing a leading part in training apprentices across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced painting techniques for both new construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Use office software including Microsoft Word and Outlook as well as digital devices for data entry.
  • Adhere to safe handling of asbestos, lead-based products, and other high-risk materials on site.
  • Follow strict workplace health and safety regulations including daily risk assessments and reporting hazards.
  • Maintain personal accountability for safety and ensure actions do not compromise the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a diverse, equitable, and customer-oriented work environment.
  • Mentor and support apprentices of varying experience levels.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Possession of a current trade certificate, at minimum Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.
  • Valid Construction Industry White Card.
  • Current Queensland 'C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
  • Understanding and compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Additional Information

  • Work will be based regionally throughout Queensland with possible state-wide travel including overnight stays up to three weeks.
  • Provision of safety clothing and personal protective equipment, which must be worn on site.
  • Potential to assume team leader or foreperson responsibilities as required.
  • Use of power tools supplied; vehicle use governed by policy with no guarantee of assigned QBuild vehicle for home garaging.
