Job description

Role overview

This position leads Weedmaps’ paid social and creator-led acquisition efforts from start to finish. The role is responsible for planning, launching, and improving campaigns across Meta and other emerging social ad channels such as TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, and Snapchat, while also managing paid creator and influencer partnerships. Success in this role depends on using creative as the main growth lever in a regulated environment, where frequent creative testing and fast iteration are essential to improving acquisition efficiency.

The role sits at the intersection of media, creative development, and culture, and is best suited to someone who thinks in experiments, collaborates naturally with creators and creative partners, and can turn cultural moments into measurable growth.

What you'll do

  • Lead paid social planning and execution across Meta and other biddable social platforms, managing budgets, pacing, bidding, audiences, and creative performance against acquisition and efficiency goals.
  • Own creator and influencer-driven acquisition, including identifying partners, briefing them, enabling whitelisting or partnership ads, measuring performance, and scaling successful collaborations alongside broader creator and cultural marketing work.
  • Improve first-time shopper growth by treating creative as the key performance driver, continuously developing, briefing, testing, and refining ad concepts and formats.
  • Act as the main bridge between paid media and Creative, converting performance insights into actionable creative direction and sharing results back with the creative team.
  • Build and maintain an ongoing testing plan for hooks, formats, messaging, and audiences, with clear test structure and learnings that accumulate over time.
  • Work closely with Lifecycle to follow acquired users through engagement and retention, optimizing for shopper quality and downstream value rather than only top-of-funnel volume.
  • Keep channels compliant and well-maintained by following platform rules and cannabis advertising regulations across state-level legal requirements.
  • Partner with senior leadership and Finance on budget planning, forecasting, and monthly and quarterly scenarios tied to priority states and important cultural or seasonal moments.
  • Coordinate with Media Operations on tracking standards, including Branch and UTM setup, conversion measurement, and reporting integrity.
  • Assess, test, and adopt new social platforms, creator partners, and ad technology as market conditions and platform risks change.
  • Present channel results, creative insights, and recommendations to marketing leaders and cross-functional partners within the state-level operating model.
  • Document strategies, learnings, and processes in shared SOPs to support consistency and knowledge transfer across the team.

What we're looking for

  • 5 to 8 years of practical paid media experience, with strong depth in paid social; Meta experience is required and experience on other biddable social platforms is a plus.
  • A proven history of growing acquisition through creative-led paid social, with a clear understanding of what makes performance creative effective.
  • Direct experience running paid influencer or creator campaigns, including partnership ads, branded content ads, or whitelisting, plus managing creator relationships.
  • Strong analytical ability with comfort working across CPA, CPC, CTR, ROAS, and downstream quality or retention metrics, and translating creative data into decisions.
  • A test-and-learn mindset with experience designing and executing structured creative experiments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially when partnering with creative teams and creators and writing briefs that perform.
  • Excellent organization and self-direction, with the ability to manage many creative outputs and overlapping workstreams in a fast-moving, ambiguous setting.

Bonus qualifications

  • BA/BS preferred.
  • Exposure to attribution or measurement tools, MMPs such as Branch, and GA4.
  • Experience with creator marketplaces, social listening, or UGC sourcing and production workflows.
  • Strong awareness of culture and trends, with the ability to turn them into paid social and creator activations.
  • Background in a marketplace, publisher, or two-sided platform business.
  • Experience working in regulated or restricted-advertising categories is helpful but not mandatory.
