Role Overview
XR is looking for a creative, highly detail-focused Packaging & Brand Designer to own the development and rollout of product packaging and brand identity across several product lines. The role blends branding, packaging design, production support, and cross-functional creative work to produce polished visual assets for packaging, retail, marketing, and digital channels.
The ideal person is comfortable in a fast-moving consumer products setting and has solid experience guiding packaging projects from early concept through final print production. You will partner closely with product development, marketing, and outside vendors to support product launches and ongoing brand expansion. This role reports to the VP of Product Development.
A portfolio demonstrating packaging and branding work is required.

Brand & Identity Development
- Partner with the product development team to create new brand concepts across multiple product categories.
- Build early brand materials such as logos, mood boards, style references, and brand standards.
- Shape the visual direction for packaging, marketing collateral, retail displays, and digital touchpoints.
- Refresh and evolve existing brand identities when needed, including modernizing the visual style and updating brand and packaging standards.
Packaging Design
- Create product packaging from initial concept through production, including dielines, page layout, typography, color choices, and overall composition.
- Develop packaging prototypes and 3D visual mockups for feedback and approval.
- Coordinate with printers, packaging vendors, and other external partners to make sure the final output is practical and meets quality standards.
- Produce packaging and marketing materials for single products and private-label brands as needed.
Asset Management & Documentation
- Develop and organize brand asset libraries, templates, and supporting documentation for both internal and external use to maintain consistency across all brand touchpoints.
- Create and maintain packaging guidelines covering product finishes, materials, logo usage, color rules, and brand-specific standards.
- Review final artwork carefully to confirm accuracy, consistency, and alignment with brand requirements.
Collaboration & Process Management
- Work across marketing, product development, and outside vendors to keep branding and messaging aligned.
- Support the product development team in spotting missing product categories and packaging opportunities.
- Follow a structured brand and packaging workflow that includes research, mood boards, concept development, refinement, approvals, and final production.
Required Skills & Qualifications
This role calls for at least 5 years of hands-on experience in packaging design, branding, or graphic design in consumer products, retail, or e-commerce environments.
Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, is essential. You should also understand packaging production, print methods, dielines, and color control, and be able to prepare artwork that is ready for manufacturing.
The position also requires excellent typography, layout, color, and visual storytelling skills, along with strong organization, communication, and project management abilities. You must be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines without losing attention to detail.
Candidates must be comfortable reviewing adult imagery and videos on a daily basis and able to describe, discuss, and work with adult and sexual wellness products professionally, respectfully, and without judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in building private-label, retail, or e-commerce brands.
- Experience creating launch assets for Amazon and digital product releases.
- Familiarity with 3D rendering or mockup tools, plus AI-assisted creative workflows, is an advantage.
- Experience in consumer products, toys, lifestyle, wellness, beauty, electronics, or similar industries is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Huntington Beach, CA. Remote and hybrid setups are not available. The workplace is collaborative, creative, fast-paced, and centered around product development.
Compensation
Pay will be determined based on experience.
