Role overview
Join an outside school hours care service based at Melton West Primary School in Melton, where you will lead the daily operations of the program, shape engaging activities for children, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment. This position offers guaranteed shifts on school days and is located close to home in Harkness, Victoria.
Working pattern and pay
The role pays $45.46 per hour plus 12% superannuation. An additional $4.32 per hour is available through the Worker Retention Payment Scheme, and professional development is provided as paid training. Working hours are Monday to Friday, with guaranteed shifts during school days.
- Before-school care runs from 6:45 am to 8:45 am.
- After-school care runs from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
- Travel is minimal, as the service is close to home.
- Retention payments are paid above award.
What you will do
You will take ownership of the service, planning fun and meaningful programs that can include science activities, sports, arts, and other child-led experiences. The role also involves maintaining a safe and inclusive space, preparing nutritious snacks, supporting compliance and quality improvement, engaging with families and stakeholders, and keeping the service running smoothly each day.
What you will bring
We are looking for someone with a warm, approachable style, strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude. You should either hold or be studying toward an approved qualification in early childhood, primary teaching, school-aged care, youth work, community services, or a related field. A valid Working With Children Check is required, along with Child Protection Training, First Aid, CPR, and Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management; a willingness to obtain some of these is acceptable. You should also be confident building trust with children, educators, and school leaders.
