Role Overview
This permanent full-time position is based in Cork and neighboring counties. The Optical Assistant role involves conducting eye photography to detect retinal damage caused by diabetes-related complications. No prior experience is necessary, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals starting a career in healthcare or healthcare workers looking to expand their skills. You will join a dedicated team of experts who provide continuous support and training to help you specialize in retinal screening.
Team Environment
You will collaborate with Senior Diabetic Retinal Technicians, Team Leaders, and supportive administrative, managerial, and clinical personnel. This close-knit team fosters professional growth and ensures you have access to subject matter experts for guidance at all times.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Perform retinal photography to identify diabetic retinopathy and related eye conditions.
- Work independently after comprehensive initial training, using initiative and problem-solving skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Maintain excellent communication with patients and team members to promote positive patient experiences.
Qualifications and Requirements
- No previous experience required; full training provided.
- Possession of a full clean Irish driving license and access to secure parking for the company vehicle.
- Strong customer care orientation and commitment to achieving positive patient outcomes.
- Proficient IT literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
- Well-developed problem-solving abilities, initiative, and a proactive work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels of interaction.
