About the Role

Join Transport for NSW as an Operations Coordinator based at the Regional Transport Operations Centre in McLeods Shoot, NSW. You will play a key part in managing a variety of network and tunnel systems while coordinating responses to both planned and unexpected incidents. Your work will directly enhance the travel experience across the State transport network in Regional NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate control systems including tunnel ventilation, power, fire safety, drainage, and network management devices such as variable message and speed limit signs, and lane use management systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate network congestion and delays, assessing impacts to transport corridors and routes.
  • Coordinate closely with the Transport Management Centre's traffic operations room to achieve team goals and optimize customer experience.
  • Support management of unplanned incidents by evaluating outcomes, reporting effectively, and engaging with high-profile stakeholders under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Work in a 24/7 operational environment on rotating shifts covering days, nights, and public holidays.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in coordinating professionals across multiple levels and departments, demonstrating sound judgment, risk mitigation, and problem-solving skills within transport and tunnel environments.
  • Proficient in managing computerized electronic traffic and transport systems with a solid understanding of network management.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Additional Information

  • This is a permanent, full-time position classified as Award Transport USS Grade 8, located onsite at the Regional Transport Operations Centre.
  • Attractive penalty and overtime rates apply due to shift work nature, along with five weeks of annual leave per year.
