About the Role

Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill, undertaking vital duties that help maintain the day-to-day operations of a busy prison environment. This role involves a mix of administrative tasks and physical responsibilities to assist in security and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct security checks including searches at the prison entrance.
• Manage deliveries and monitor visitors to the prison.
• Supervise prisoners’ phone activity and manage CCTV surveillance.
• Perform physical duties such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around the prison grounds.
• Work varied shifts including nights and weekends to ensure continuous prison operation.
• Drive as part of daily responsibilities, requiring a valid full UK Driving Licence.

Candidate Profile

This position does not require formal qualifications but demands excellent communication skills, the ability to remain composed under pressure, sound judgment, common sense, and strong teamwork capabilities. Prior interaction with prisoners may be limited but can occur depending on specific duties.
