At the Hoyerswerda location, we are seeking an Online Reporter to join Märkisches Medienhaus, part of the Neue Pressegesellschaft (NPG). NPG is the umbrella organization for numerous digital and print media outlets in southwest and eastern Germany, ranking among the top five publishers of daily newspapers in the country. Its titles, including Südwest Presse, Schwarzwälder Bote, Stuttgarter Zeitung, Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Märkische Oderzeitung, and Lausitzer Rundschau, reach over two million readers daily. In addition to print, NPG is a pioneer in digital media with high-traffic news platforms and apps. The group employs approximately 3,400 people across publishing, editorial, media service, online, radio, services, event management, printing, distribution, and logistics, with another 15,000 staff involved in delivery services.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently identify and select compelling local news stories.
- Conduct research, write, and edit content for publication on websites, social media, and print media.
- Report on current events through engaging articles, captivating videos, and striking photographs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed journalistic training (e.g., traineeship or journalism school) and/or relevant professional experience, especially in local journalism.
- Strong affinity and connection to the region and its people.
- Excellent intuition for topics that are interesting and engaging.
- Capability for thorough and persistent research.
- High dedication, flexibility, and confident demeanor.
- Digital proficiency and skilled usage of smartphones and laptops for journalistic purposes.
- Possession of a driver's license and own car.
- Willingness to work evening appointments and weekends.
