Oil & Gas Subject Matter Expert

Role Overview

As an Oil & Gas Subject Matter Expert, you will deliver expertise across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, acting as a critical bridge between industry business needs and innovative technology solutions. Your experience will drive digital transformation initiatives and support end-to-end project delivery within the Oil & Gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the leading expert for exploration, drilling, production, pipelines, logistics, refining, and distribution operations.
• Align operational business requirements with tailored technology solutions, contributing to presales and execution phases.
• Offer strategic guidance for digital transformation programs spanning the complete Oil & Gas value chain.
• Work closely with stakeholders to identify operational issues and translate them into technology-driven solutions.
• Support design of integrated systems encompassing production, asset management, automation, and digital oilfield platforms.
• Provide recommendations on emerging technologies such as AI/ML, IoT, cloud computing, automation, analytics, and edge computing for Oil & Gas use cases.
• Lead workshops, requirements gathering, and process mapping with business and operational teams.
• Contribute domain expertise to RFPs, proposals, client presentations, and presales efforts.
• Guide project teams during scoping, design, testing, deployment, and adoption to ensure domain alignment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety, and best practices in Oil & Gas operations.
• Collaborate with teams in drilling, reservoir, production, HSE, supply chain, and field operations to achieve business goals.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing, training sessions, and capability-building initiatives internally and with clients.
• Support development of Oil & Gas frameworks, competencies, and reusable solution assets.

Candidate Profile

• 10 to 15+ years of extensive experience in Oil & Gas industry roles, including operations, consulting, digital transformation, or technology-based engagements.
• Deep knowledge of upstream, midstream, and downstream processes and business workflows.
• Hands-on familiarity with exploration, drilling, production, reservoir management, refining, and logistics.
• Experience with industry platforms such as Digital Oilfield, SCADA, DCS, Asset Performance Management, and Production Management Systems.
• Background supporting automation, digital transformation, cloud, analytics, AI/ML, or IoT projects in Oil & Gas environments.
• Excellent analytical capabilities coupled with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable engaging with senior leaders, technical architects, and delivery teams.
• Experience collaborating with global Oil & Gas operators, EPC firms, or service providers preferred.
• Willingness to travel for client engagements, workshops, and site visits as necessary.
