Job description

Overview

This position is for the Official Court Reporter located in the 18th Judicial District at 525 N Main, Wichita, KS 67203. The role is classified as Grade 36 with an hourly wage of $29.07.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility involves accurately capturing judicial proceedings at rapid speeds and producing verbatim transcripts of hearings upon request. The role requires full accountability for the precise preparation of transcripts, which may include specialized technical terminology. Additionally, maintaining electronic backup storage of recorded proceedings is necessary. The position requires flexibility to work in any court within the district.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have at least a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. Completion of formal training in either a machine shorthand or voice writing program is mandatory. The candidate must hold a Kansas Certified Reporter (CCR) certificate or its equivalent. Experience with computer-aided transcription is advantageous. Effective communication skills, strong command of English, self-motivation, and organizational abilities are desired. Proficiency in realtime writing is strongly preferred.
