Role Summary

The Officer - Wildlife Hazard Management will support the planning, execution, and monitoring of wildlife hazard control activities at the airport. The role involves assisting with wildlife management strategies, tracking wildlife presence, maintaining records, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and helping ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Support the day-to-day coordination of wildlife hazard management work at the airport, including the implementation of deterrence actions and habitat-related control measures.

Work in close coordination with ground operations, maintenance, and other teams to ensure wildlife management activities are carried out as planned and documented properly.

Keep a continuous watch on airport premises for wildlife activity, including identifying species, observing location and behaviour, and escalating sightings to the relevant teams or authorities.

Assist in wildlife risk assessments by collecting operational data, analysing risk factors, and preparing summaries or reports with mitigation recommendations.

Help deploy and monitor wildlife deterrent tools and devices, and suggest adjustments when effectiveness changes based on observations or incident trends.

Support compliance efforts by helping prepare regulatory documentation, participating in internal checks, and staying updated on applicable laws, guidelines, and procedures.

Assist in organising wildlife hazard management training for airport personnel, including session coordination, material preparation, and follow-up on training effectiveness.

Stakeholder Interaction

Internal stakeholders include the Lead - Wildlife Hazard Management, Operations Team, Ground Staff, Maintenance Personnel, Security Team, Human Resources, Training Department, and Facility Management.

External stakeholders include Regulatory Agencies, Airport Authorities, Contractors and Service Providers, Emergency Services, Health and Safety Inspectors, Insurance Providers, and Industry Associations.

Qualifications and Experience

A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is preferred. Knowledge of ornithology and safety management principles is also relevant for this role.

Candidates should have 3 to 4 years of experience in wildlife management or environmental science, especially in hazard assessment, control measures, and coordination with wildlife agencies. Exposure to aviation environments and wildlife-related risk management will be an advantage.
