Role Overview
The Officer - Production 1 is responsible for ensuring that production targets during shifts are met efficiently, prioritizing product quality and safety. This role emphasizes continuous process improvement, skill development, and maintaining safe plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the operations team to meet daily production goals.
- Manage plant manufacturing activities, monitoring and controlling process parameters via a Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Operate critical process plant equipment safely and effectively.
- Document process data accurately using predefined formats and SAP software.
- Manage the procurement, verification, and charging of raw materials at designated points.
- Conduct field inspections and troubleshooting for equipment defects or malfunctions, coordinating with maintenance support when necessary.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for plant machinery.
- Maintain plant cleanliness and adhere strictly to 5S organizational methods.
- Identify safety hazards, contribute to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) improvements, and participate in Human Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Operate filling and packing lines following standard procedures.
- Attend training and participate in Emergency Response Plan (ERP) mock drills and firefighting exercises.
- Handle sampling for both in-process and finished goods.
- Adhere to targeted production volumes during shifts and uphold safety and quality standards at all times.
- Support investigations like Root Cause Analysis (RCA), risk assessments, process reviews, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and assist on projects and other initiatives as required.
Education and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or any scientific discipline.
- 4 to 5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably with batch or continuous processing, handling solid or powder materials, including extruder operation.
- Proficient with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and various process industry instruments.
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and proven commitment to EHS standards.
- Familiarity with 5S workplace organization principles.
- Experience with SAP is advantageous.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
