Role overview
BDO Gisborne is seeking an organised and client-oriented Office Administrator to support its Māori Business Unit. This position involves a mix of administrative coordination and client service, helping the team stay on top of daily tasks while maintaining positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Key duties
- Deliver administrative assistance to the Māori Business Unit and, when required, to the broader firm
- Back the Executive Assistant in providing effective support services to Māori Business Unit Partners
- Act as an initial contact for client and shareholder enquiries
- Help manage wages, monthly payments, and general accounting administration
- Draft client letters, correspondence, and signing documents
- Arrange meetings, book rooms, and organise catering
- Process fees and keep filing and archiving up to date
- Work with clients to collect information and respond to requests in a timely way
- Contribute to team objectives and help maintain a high standard of service
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have at least three years of experience in administration or an accounts-related position. You should be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a busy team environment.
Strong computer skills are important, particularly with Microsoft Office. Experience with Xero and payroll systems would be an advantage. A working understanding of PAYE, GST, and common accounting processes is also desirable.
You’ll need to bring a professional, dependable, and cooperative attitude, along with strong relationship-building ability and a genuine focus on client service. Knowledge of Māori business practices would be an added benefit.
