Role overview
APM New Zealand is looking for an Occupational Therapist with a strong background in pain management and vocational rehabilitation to join its Wellington team. This role suits a clinician who thrives in a fast-moving environment, uses sound clinical judgement, and wants to make a real impact for a wide range of clients.
You will be part of a team that is values-led, focused on clients, and committed to delivering high-quality service. The position reports to a Team Leader and involves working across homes, workplaces, communities, and multidisciplinary settings.
Key areas of work
Vocational rehabilitation
- Carry out workplace assessments with confidence.
- Create graduated return-to-work plans.
- Perform task analyses and understand vocational service pathways.
Community rehabilitation
- Support people in the community through rehabilitation services.
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to help clients meet their rehabilitation goals.
- Understand community service pathways and return-to-work support.
Pain management services
- Work in interdisciplinary teams supporting people living with persistent pain.
- Apply behaviour change methods, pacing techniques, and self-management education.
- Use a biopsychosocial approach to care.

- Delivering client-centred rehabilitation with strong clinical reasoning and flexibility.
- Providing clear, professional communication with clients, whānau, and other stakeholders.

Experience and capability required
- At least 2 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation and community rehabilitation services.
- Alternatively, at least 3 years of experience in an interdisciplinary pain management setting.
- Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to adapt to different client needs.
- Experience delivering rehabilitation in community settings.
