Role overview
An established medical device manufacturer is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Specialist to support employee health and safety activities in a part-time remote contract role. The position focuses on managing occupational health matters, workers’ compensation case handling, and regulatory documentation across the workforce.
Working arrangement
This is a remote role based in the United States. The schedule is 15 hours per week, and the assignment runs for 6 months. Compensation is $39.00 to $43.00 per hour on a W2 basis.
Core responsibilities
- Carry out health assessments and initial screenings, and suggest treatment steps when employees need support.
- Run health and environmental screening programs, coordinate referrals for clinical review, and interpret, record, and share findings in line with relevant regulations.
- Advise Human Resources and Legal partners on medical restrictions and possible workplace accommodations.
- Keep OSHA 300, 301, and 300A logs current and accurate in accordance with recordkeeping rules.
- Handle workers’ compensation cases from start to finish, including fact-finding, medical record review, and follow-up requests for additional medical details when necessary.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Health Nursing or a related discipline is required. The role calls for 2 to 4 years of occupational health experience. Experience in a telehealth setting is considered highly desirable.
Knowledge and skills
The ideal candidate should understand OSHA recordkeeping requirements, workers’ compensation workflows, medical record analysis, and occupational health compliance. Strong communication skills are needed to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and the ability to manage several priorities independently in a remote setting is important.
