The position is focused on driving ongoing improvement toward the company’s target of zero accidents and work-related illness, while supporting the rollout of the corporate OHS strategy across factories and sites.

The role includes leading a small site OHS team and independently managing most OHS matters without external assistance. In the factories, you will also oversee environmental activities to ensure compliance with both internal standards and external regulations, while providing leadership across safety, health, and environmental topics.

This role is based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Travel may be required for up to 25% of working time.

The company will not provide visa sponsorship or relocation support for this position.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of OHS and environmental matters for the PackMat and AddMat factories.
  • Advise the site director, managing director, and factory director on safety, health, and environmental issues.
  • Set up and keep in place the systems needed to support group OHS/environment policies, procedures, and local legal requirements.
  • Track OHS/environment incidents and make sure all corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Check that the site follows agreed OHS and environmental policies and operating procedures.
  • Ensure a training plan is in place to address the site’s significant risks.
  • Provide accurate and timely information for internal and external social and environmental reporting platforms such as SoFi and Sedex questionnaires.
  • Plan and carry out third-party audits in line with group requirements for safety, health, environment, and legal compliance, including Sedex and ISO 14001.
  • Stop any activity that presents a danger or a serious breach of OHS or environmental legislation.

Candidate profile

  • At least 4 years of practical experience in an OHS or SHE role, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

  • A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) qualification or NEBOSH certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience applying regulatory standards in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience handling security-related responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methods, ideally WCM/TPM linked to the EHS pillar.
  • Proven ability in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and problem solving.
