Job description

About the department

In our internal medicine unit, care is organized as a truly collaborative specialty rather than isolated subspecialty work. The team shares expertise, supports one another, and keeps the patient at the center of every decision. By combining our knowledge, we aim to deliver the best possible treatment.

Cooperation with nursing staff and functional teams is an important part of daily work, and their initiative and professional development are actively encouraged. The role is suited to someone who wants to practice broad internal medicine rather than work only in a narrow niche.

Led by Chief Physician Dr. Markus Ewald, the department works closely with all major and affiliated departments of the hospital as well as with connected specialist centers in invasive cardiology, nephrology, and gastroenterology. There is also close cooperation with the University Hospital Würzburg in hematology-oncology and with the oncology MVZ in Schweinfurt. The department is a member of CCC Mainfranken.

Position summary

The hospital is looking for an Oberarzt for Internal Medicine to start as soon as possible. The position can be filled on a full-time or part-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist medical care for patients, including participation in the on-call duty system.
  • Serve as a key contact person for resident doctors and contribute actively to their training and professional development.
  • Take part in the department’s standard diagnostic and procedural work, with the possibility of additional training from the hospital depending on existing skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Completed specialist training in internal medicine; if an additional internal medicine subspecialty is already in place, the willingness and ability to represent the broader field of internal medicine are expected.
  • Openness to contributing personal areas of interest and developing them further.
  • Fluent, business-level German language skills.
  • Strong team spirit and good organizational ability.
  • Readiness to work collaboratively across all major focus areas of internal medicine.
  • Proof of sufficient measles vaccination protection or immunity is required before starting work, in accordance with the Infection Protection Act (§23a in conjunction with §20 para. 9 IfSG).

Compensation and benefits

The role is permanent and paid according to AVR Caritas. In addition, the employer provides extra social benefits, an employer-financed company pension, and supplementary health insurance.

  • A medically challenging role covering the full spectrum of internal medicine.
  • A genuinely flat hierarchy built on mutual support.
  • Structured onboarding to help with a smooth start.
  • Access to internal and external training opportunities in the specialty.
  • Predictable working hours that support work-life balance and family time.
