Job description
About the Organization
This role sits within a large national home infusion and alternate-site care company that serves patients across all 50 states. The organization focuses on improving care for people living with acute and chronic conditions through clinical expertise, broad reach, and a patient-centered approach. It also emphasizes an inclusive workplace where team members are supported, listened to, and given room to grow.
Role Overview
The Registered Dietitian will guide clinical, operational, and market-facing efforts for the home nutrition support program, including enteral and parenteral nutrition. This person will provide daily clinical support for parenteral nutrition patients in the assigned territory, which may include multiple locations. The position also contributes to sales support, account relationships, and coordination with office-based clinical and sales teams to strengthen the nutrition support service line.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day clinical support for patients receiving parenteral nutrition.
- Complete detailed nutrition assessments, build care plans, and educate patients, caregivers, and clinical personnel.
- Review new enteral cases to confirm home suitability, recommend free-water flushes, align with formulary supply requirements, and verify payment pathways according to insurance rules.
- Evaluate new parenteral nutrition cases for safety and clinical fit in the home setting and support coordination of therapy initiation.
- Provide patient teaching for both enteral and parenteral nutrition, either in person or by phone, based on business needs.
- Take part in or lead discussions about PN patients during regular team meetings and work closely with pharmacy and nursing staff on care plans.
- Partner with account managers and regional sales directors to support nutrition-related sales efforts and account growth within the territory.
- Contribute to office-level sales planning, program rollout, and serving as a connector among physicians, nutrition support teams, customers, and sales staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition products and reimbursement basics to respond to questions from patients, referrers, prescribers, and internal staff.
- Track nutrition-related quality measures such as patient census, satisfaction, clinical competency, assessment quality, and improvement activities.
- Spot opportunities for better outcomes, share them with management, and help build action plans to improve patient care processes.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate education programs, including orientation and in-service training, covering clinical nutrition, reimbursement, and formulary compliance.
- Help orient and train newly hired registered dietitians, sales staff, and other nutrition-support team members.
- Support assigned Care Management Center locations remotely when needed.
- Use clinical data to identify nutrition problems, select interventions, monitor progress, and document findings in patient records.
- Perform nutrition assessments using intake estimates, nutrient requirement calculations, anthropometrics, lab data, and drug-nutrient interaction review.
- Participate in professional organizations.
- Join the on-call dietitian rotation.
- Follow legal and ethical requirements for protecting patient confidentiality and company information.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Active Registered Dietitian credential with the appropriate state license or certification for the practice location.
- At least 2 years of experience in enteral and parenteral nutrition as a nutrition support professional.
- Board certification in nutrition support, or a commitment to obtain it within 1 year of hire.
- Current CPR certification if the role involves patient-facing duties.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory and attend required meetings.
- Leadership and supervisory capability.
- Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs.
