Role Overview
The Patient Scheduler is responsible for arranging clinical visits for patients and coordinating the availability of nursing resources. This role may involve scheduling Option Care Nursing, subcontracted nursing, and network nursing. The position works closely with pharmacy, nursing, and warehouse teams to align staffing and scheduling needs so that patients receive the right care at the right time. The role also supports additional tasks assigned by the Nurse Manager, Area Director of Nursing, and/or Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange appropriate staff coverage to support all patient care needs.
- Coordinate, track, and schedule patient care across clinical service areas.
- Reach out to patients and clinicians to set up and confirm visits and deliveries.
- Review physician orders and build schedules in line with those instructions.
- Complete assigned tasks and generate reports in the required systems.
- Align scheduling requirements with staff availability.
- Keep management informed about staffing gaps and operational needs.
- Escalate patient complaints or service concerns to the correct department.
- Handle clerk-related duties when needed if a clerk is unavailable.
- Follow legal and ethical standards to protect patient confidentiality and company information.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 1 year of prior scheduling experience is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a general office administration role or another similarly fast-paced environment is required.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication skills for phone, one-on-one, and group settings.
- Strong written communication skills for emails, letters, and reports across different audiences.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word 2003 or later, including document creation, formatting, tables, and graphics.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel 2003 or later, including worksheets, data entry, simple formulas, and row/cell management.
- Experience delivering customer service to both internal and external customers while meeting quality and satisfaction standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in home healthcare.
- Familiarity with an electronic scheduling platform.
- 2 years of experience in general office administration or a comparable fast-paced setting.

Compensation
Pay is influenced by the candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment. The stated pay range for this position is $19.57 to $32.63.
