Job description
The Role
The Cleaning Operative supports the cleanliness of trains and stations across Transport for Wales cleaning operations by completing assigned tasks within the required timeframes.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain allocated areas on trains and in facilities by carrying out tasks such as damp wiping, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, and cleaning luggage racks, while using supplied equipment and required PPE.
- Keep station platforms and other specified areas tidy by emptying bins, removing graffiti, and, after suitable training, clearing pigeon droppings to help provide a clean and safe environment for customers and colleagues.
- Refill consumables in designated areas, including soap and toilet rolls, to support a hygienic environment.
- Perform more demanding cleaning duties when needed, including carpet cleaning, steam cleaning, and occasional jet washing of stations and facilities.
What We’re Looking For
- Prior experience in a cleaning position.
- Confidence handling cleaning equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow health and safety rules and procedures.
- Awareness of how to manage cleaning chemicals safely.
Welsh Language Skills
