Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for an experienced New Zealand student recruitment consultant to support India-focused education sales for a Newmarket, Auckland-based international education and migration consultancy. The position is remote from India and is intended for someone who can counsel students and parents, manage enquiries, and turn qualified leads into submitted applications and enrollments.
The engagement is long-term, contractor-based, and structured around full-time-equivalent availability of about 40 hours per week. Flexibility is expected for evening or weekend conversations with students and parents when needed. Candidates located in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai will be preferred.
About the organization
The company is part of Novo Education, an award-winning consultancy that officially represents New Zealand universities and education providers. Its Auckland team supports learners and families across the full journey, including course selection, application preparation, admissions coordination, student visa preparation support, and settlement guidance.
As the India recruitment network expands, the business is seeking a consultant who can earn trust quickly, provide thoughtful guidance, and help convert serious enquiries into successful student outcomes.
What the role involves
This is a consultative student recruitment position with a strong sales and conversion focus. You will handle prospective student enquiries, speak with students and parents, assess academic background, financial capacity, study goals, and career plans, and suggest suitable New Zealand pathways using approved company guidance.
Once a student is ready to proceed, the Auckland office will take over admissions and visa preparation support so you can stay focused on counselling, follow-up, conversion, and lead management.
The company generates qualified enquiries through digital marketing, allowing you to spend your time on student engagement and closing rather than cold prospecting.
Responsibilities
- Handle student enquiries through phone, WhatsApp, email, video calls, and other approved communication channels.
- Run detailed counselling sessions with students and their parents.
- Assess each student’s education history, budget, goals, and preferred course direction.
- Recommend appropriate New Zealand study options, including universities, polytechnics, private training establishments, and pathway routes where relevant.
- Explain general information on admissions, English language expectations, tuition, living expenses, and the broad student visa preparation process using approved guidance.
- Develop trust and credibility with families during their decision-making process.
- Maintain regular and professional follow-up with prospects.
- Support students from initial enquiry through application submission and enrollment.
- Keep Zoho CRM records, consultation notes, and follow-up actions complete and current after every interaction.
- Coordinate closely with the Auckland office to ensure a smooth transition when students are ready to apply.
- Meet agreed monthly targets for lead management, applications, and conversions.
- Assist with marketing and recruitment activities when required.
Requirements
- 3 to 4 years of experience in international education counselling, student recruitment, or education sales.
- Prior exposure to the New Zealand education market is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand study routes, institutions, admissions processes, and visa documentation needs.
- Proven ability to convert enquiries into submitted applications and enrollments.
- Strong English communication skills, plus fluency in relevant Indian languages.
- Well-developed skills in persuasion, negotiation, relationship building, and sales.
- Comfort speaking confidently with both students and parents.
- Disciplined follow-up habits and strong CRM data management.
- Ability to work independently from home with a target-driven mindset.
- Good awareness of the concerns students and parents commonly have when choosing New Zealand.
- Preferred experience with Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Salesforce, or other education CRM tools.
- Experience using WhatsApp Business or structured student communication systems is an advantage.
- Background in working with marketing-generated leads is beneficial.
- Experience in overseas education counselling for New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the UK, or the US is a plus.
- Consultative sales, student recruitment, or parent-facing advisory experience will be valued.
- Own laptop and mobile phone.
- Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, professional home workspace.
- Adequate availability to manage assigned enquiries and meet performance goals.
- Willingness to take calls during evenings or weekends when needed.
- Comfort using company systems, including Zoho CRM and approved communication tools.
- Ability to work under company policies on communication, data handling, marketing claims, and professional conduct.
Performance expectations
This is a results-driven recruitment role. Progress will be reviewed on factors such as response time, consistency of follow-up, consultation quality, CRM discipline, application conversion, offer acceptance, enrollment completion, and student satisfaction. Exact targets will be agreed with shortlisted candidates before the engagement starts.
Engagement and compensation
The arrangement includes a fixed monthly retainer, with the amount depending on experience, capability, and demonstrated performance, along with incentives tied to agreed recruitment and conversion outcomes. Qualified leads are provided through the company’s marketing efforts, and the consultant receives New Zealand market training, ongoing support from the Auckland office, access to approved systems, and admissions/visa preparation support from the internal team.
This is a contractor engagement rather than a salaried employment role. The successful candidate will work remotely from India under a monthly retainer plus performance incentive model. Additional details on the contractor agreement, payment structure, expectations, and compliance requirements will be shared with shortlisted applicants.
Compliance and professional standards
The consultant must use company-approved channels and CRM tools, keep records current after every student interaction, and protect all student, institutional, and company information as confidential.
All enquiries, client information, CRM notes, and communication records remain the property of the company. The consultant must not redirect students, institutions, agents, or opportunities away from the organization, make unauthorized promises about admissions, scholarships, visas, jobs, or migration outcomes, collect student payments, or commit financially on the company’s behalf unless explicitly authorized in writing. Only approved guidance may be used when discussing visa preparation and related matters.
Why this role may appeal to you
This position offers the chance to work closely with an established consultancy that has strong New Zealand market knowledge, institutional relationships, and a student-centered service model. You will receive qualified enquiries, market training, support from the Auckland office, approved counselling resources, a clear handover process, and incentive-driven earning potential as the India network grows.
Application instructions
Interested candidates with experience in international education counselling or education sales and a desire to specialize in New Zealand recruitment are invited to share their CV by email. The subject line should mention the role title. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
