Role Overview
The Network Specialist will play a crucial role bridging the gap between network architecture and physical deployment as BEAT81 expands its gym network rapidly. Working closely with the Principal Engineer and the Rollout Specialist, this role entails planning network infrastructure for new gyms and retrofits, overseeing contractors, managing hardware procurement and inventory, configuring, and maintaining devices, as well as supporting R&D with testing and environment setup.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operations, Expansion, and Product teams to plan network cabling for new locations and renovations.
- Supervise and verify cabling work by external contractors and internal construction teams to ensure quality and compliance.
- Provide hands-on technical support onsite during installations and retrofits guiding the Rollout Specialist.
- Manage procurement processes and maintain thorough inventory of network devices and related equipment.
- Configure and sustain network equipment such as switches, routers, access points, and maintain proper VLAN and firewall setups across all sites.
- Support research & development through equipment testing, coordination of procurement, and setup of testing environments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards and good cable management techniques including terminations.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network equipment, preferably Ubiquiti UniFi or similar.
- Proficiency configuring various network hardware including switches, routers, access points with VLAN and firewall management.
- Skilled in managing procurement and keeping accurate inventories of network and computing hardware.
- Ability to interpret technical documents such as network plans, floor layouts, and cabling diagrams.
- Comfortable working onsite under time constraints, collaborating with contractors, and communicating with non-technical personnel.
- Strong command of English both spoken and written.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) device management or embedded/edge hardware.
- Familiarity with Linux environments, using SSH and basic command line interface.
- Knowledge of network monitoring or observability tools.
- Background in multi-site operations, retail, or hospitality sectors.
- Relevant network certifications.
- Proficiency in German language.
